Free festive parking back in the run up to Christmas

Free Christmas car parking Tamworth 2022

14 November 2022

  • Free parking in council car parks on December 3 and 17
  • Visitors invited to park for free and Christmas shop
  • Free parking is does NOT apply to non-council car parks

Parking will again be free in Tamworth Borough Council run car parks on selected Saturdays leading up to Christmas.

The free festive parking initiative returns this December after what we know will be another difficult year for the town’s business community.

Charges will be waived in all Tamworth Borough Council car parks on two Saturdays – December 3 and December 17. Please note the offer does not apply to the NCP car park on the site of the former Gungate Precinct.

It is hoped the initiative will encourage more people to come into the town centre to do their Christmas shopping, have a festive drink or meal, and give the shops and businesses as much of a boost as possible in December.

Why not combine free parking on December 3 with a matinee show at the Assembly Rooms with a ballet performance of Beauty and the Beast - one of the most loved and eagerly anticipated live shows performed by Ballet UK?

There will be two showings of the ballet on December 3, 2.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets are available from: What's On | Tamworth Arts and Events.

Tamworth Castle is open on Saturday’s and makes a perfect festive day out. Look around the traditional Christmas decorated rooms as part of a visit to town. Tickets for admission are available via: Plan your visit | Award-Winning Heritage in a Stunning Castle (tamworthcastle.co.uk).

Councillor Rob Pritchard, Deputy Leader of Tamworth Borough Council, said: “We are keen to support the town centre and attract new visitors to Tamworth. We hope this will give shoppers an added incentive to use their local shops, maximise the peak season and get into the Christmas spirit in Tamworth.”
