Get ready for lots of fun festive activities and entertainment and celebrate Christmas in Tamworth 2023 with us
Nutcracker trail, open-air ice rink, carol spectacular, sparkling lights, a Tamworth Castle experience, Santa shows, variety performances, festive films and Christmas party night extravaganzas – those are just a selection of the many exciting festive activities Tamworth Borough Council is offering this Christmas season.
The town steps into the festive spirit with the annual Christmas light switch-on in the new location of the Castle Grounds on 26 November. As well as the usual lights, town buildings will be festooned with Christmas trees and twinkly lights.
Alongside the light switch-on, a brand-new free trail search for the life-sized nutcrackers hidden around the town centre, takes place from 26 November to 31 December.
Find all the nutcracker characters and you can enter into a prize draw. Collect your free activity packs with clues are available to collect from Tamworth Assembly Rooms Box Office and the Castle Gatehouse from 20 November, or you can download a version on the website here: www.tamworthartsandevents.co.uk.
Tamworth Assembly Rooms kicks off the party season in style from the end of November, with festive favourites and amazing entertainment for all the family to enjoy.
Visitors are invited to enjoy the full festive spirit from 18 - 24 December, at Tamworth’s first open-air, eco-friendly, synthetic ice rink at the Castle Grounds. A perfect activity for family, friends or work colleagues, set in the picturesque setting of the Castle Grounds overlooking the river. Ideal for an evening of fabulous festive adventure for all ages and skill levels.
Also, during the week before Christmas, children can meet Santa in his grotto at the Castle Stables, located at Holloway. More details on how to book will be released very soon.

The Mayor of Tamworth will host two ‘Merry Christmas Carol Spectacular’ nights where residents and visitors are invited to join a festive celebration at the town’s parish church.
Why not make it a full day out in Tamworth and explore the many unique and independent shops, bars, restaurants and coffee shops that fill up the streets of Tamworth’s town centre.
Parking charges will be dropped for all Tamworth Borough Council car parks on Saturday 2 December and Saturday 23 December. However, the offer does not apply to the privately-run NCP car park on the site of the former Gungate Precinct.
During your trip to the town, explore Tamworth’s rich heritage by looking around the extraordinary Tamworth Castle or maybe book one of their Magical Santa Shows or Castle by Candlelight; but be quick, tickets are selling fast.
Councilor Paul Turner, Leader of Tamworth Borough Council, said: “Tamworth has so much to offer visitors this festive season. We have everything from Christmas shopping, Christmas movies, market stalls, live music and performances, party nights and so much more.
“This year we have some new attractions including the nutcracker trail, an open-air ice rink and new tree decorations. Don’t miss out on all the festive fun, there really is something for everyone on offer.”
