Audiences are invited to a midsummer night’s dream in the Castle Grounds for an outdoor theatre production of Shakespeare’s fantastical comedy on Saturday, September 4 from 6.30pm.

Tamworth Borough Council’s Arts and Events Team are delighted to announce the live theatre production of Williams Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which will be taking place against the stunning backdrop of Tamworth Castle Grounds.

Performed by Heartbreak Productions, Shakespeare’s most popular play of love and intrigue has been adapted for a new generation to enjoy through highlighting climate change by using Shakespeare’s timeless imagery. The performance will emphasise the importance of the environment and using our earth’s resources wisely.

Sets and costumes are made out of recycled materials, highlighting the issues in the piece and initiate a greener approach to productions. Part of the audience interaction before the show will focus on upcycling and recycling to illustrate kinder ways of using our world’s resources. One of the ecowarriors will be live streaming during the show and engaging on social media, as any young person would do when something momentous happens.

This live experience will bring a modern twist to a theatre event, to thrill families and people of all ages, as they sit back and enjoy being taken on a flight of magical fancy and watch the drama unfold as real life is mixed with the supernatural.

Bring your own picnic, or grab refreshments from the onsite facilities and enjoy the show with the stunning backdrop of the Castle Grounds.

The show is recommended for people aged from eight years-old and is one of many outdoor events organised by Tamworth Borough Council’s Art & Events team. Tickets are priced at £8 for adults, children under 16 and concessions at £6. Family ticket £25. Visit: What's On | Tamworth Arts and Events to book your tickets.
