Trigger Happy TV creator and star Dom Joly will be paying Tamworth Assembly Rooms a visit on Sunday, March 15, as part of his first UK tour since 2011.

Armed with his trusty PowerPoint, Dom Joly is set to impress audiences with stories of his exploits as a serial globetrotter and his experiences seeking dangerous travel spots, including North Korea, Syria and Chernobyl, among many others.

The show is described as ‘comedic but with a sense of danger’, so audiences are guaranteed to be enthralled and maybe even a bit scared, at some of the stories Joly will share, including anecdotes about attending school with Osama Bin Laden.

Audiences will get an insight into Dom Joly’s travels through his holiday snaps, of which he has said: “I’ve just got this extensive collection of weird holiday snaps. And I know there’s that cliché that ‘nobody wants to see anybody else’s holiday photos’. Well, mine are really good. And I’ve got some really good stories with them. I’m also going to show some comedy clips I filmed when travelling.”

After the show, fans will have the chance to meet Dom Joly, and have copies of his book, ‘The Hezbollah Hiking Club’, signed, which recounts his hike across Lebanon from the Israeli to the Syrian border, with many funny stories being told along the way, as well as reflections of his childhood growing up in Beirut.

The second half of the show will also involve an audience Q&A so make sure you’ve got your burning questions ready as Dom Joly will be more than willing to answer them.

The tour marks the paperback release of this book, his third piece of travel writing, which has moved him away from comedy and prankster audiences he built in his earlier career, and has introduced him to new audiences within the literary world. Dom Joly will be visiting Tamworth in the run up to a three-part, prime-time BBC series that will be broadcast this Easter.

Tickets cost £18 and can be purchased online at: www.tamworthassemblyrooms.co.uk, in person at Tamworth Information Centre based in the Assembly Rooms in Corporation Street, or call the Box Office: 01827 709618.

Doors to the venue will open at 6.30pm for a 7.30pm start to the show.
