  • Tom Cruise movie soundtrack timed to fireworks
  • Fair and food stalls on site throughout the event

Thousands of people again packed into Tamworth Castle Grounds for Tamworth Borough Council’s successful13th annual free fireworks extravaganza complemented with an iconic Tom Cruise movies soundtrack.

The popular Tamworth FREE fireworks spectacular returned with a breath-taking display that lit up the skies above the Castle Grounds on Saturday, November 5.

Organised by Tamworth Borough Council, the event has become a firm favourite in the town’s annual calendar of events with an estimated more than 20,000 people visited the town for Saturday’s spectacular.

This year’s dazzling display was perfectly timed to music from Tom Cruise movies, including the iconic tunes from Top Gun, with a stunning array of breath-taking pyrotechnics. The event also hosted fairground rides, music played by Gareth Evans and refreshment stalls.

The popular event attracts visitors from across the area and further afield, with some even travelling down from Manchester to attend. It also continues to draw new visitors attending for the first time.

Councillor Robert Pritchard, Deputy Leader of Tamworth Borough Council, said: “Providing a programme of high-quality outdoor entertainment for families to enjoy free of charge is one of our priorities as a council and it’s great to see so many thousands of people taking advantage of the opportunity. The display was spectacular, and it was great to see so many smiles on visitor’s faces.

“We were made aware of some unauthorised people trying to block off the underpass and charge the public entry to the grounds. Council staff and security were made aware of this and acted promptly to ensure that visitors were not scammed. We do not tolerate people trying to scam the public and will always act immediately to remove these people and report them to the police.

“This event was a huge success, enjoyed by thousands of families and Tamworth residents and also attracting new visitors to the town. This is a great boost to the local economy, as hopefully some will return to explore the other businesses and attractions we have to offer.

“Our next event is the Tamworth Christmas Lights Switch On which takes place in St Editha’s Square from 3pm on Sunday, November 27, with another packed line up of free entertainment for all the family.”
