Knee-slapping entertainment coming to Tamworth Assembly Rooms in 2022 with incredible comedy shows lineup!

Get ready to be left in stitches as Tamworth Assembly Rooms presents a schedule of insurmountable laughter with a number of comedy events hitting the venue this year!

This season’s comedy line-up has something for people of all ages, starting this evening with actress, author, singer and songwriter Su Pollard taking to the stage for her first ever An Evening with Su Pollard national tour.

Most fans will know Su from her television debut on Opportunity Knocks where she came runner-up to a singing Jack Russell dog. However, she is best known for playing Peggy in the BAFTA award-winning sitcom Hi-De-Hi – and she was even honoured to be the subject of This is Your Life in 1989.

Whilst the 72-year-old’s last television appearance came on Celebrity Masterchef, she boasts a long line of TV and film credits including:

You Rang M’Lord, Gimme Gimme Gimme, Benidorm Christmas Special, Run For Your Wife, Last Laugh In Vegas, Doctors, The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends, Little Robots and Claude.

During her illustrious 45-year-career, Su’s versatility in the acting industry has landed her some West End gigs, too, such as The Desert Song, Oh Mr Porter, Godspell, Me and My Girl and more – as well as taking her talents into the music world with hit singles like Starting Together, Carousel, Hey Mr. Producer, Among Friends and There's Something About You. Her album, Su Pollard - The Collection, also reached number two in the UK charts.

The adult theme continues deep into March with a mature and fun-filled spin on the classic pantomime Sleeping with Beauty.

Make your weekend one to remember by heading to the Assembly Rooms on Saturday, March 19 to have a one-night stand with Sleeping Beauty.

The production, presented by Liam Mellor and Hot Rock Productions, brings together a star-spangled list of names with Hollyoaks and Waterloo Road’s Ben-Ryan Davies as the Prince, providing the hilarious antics will be cracking top UK comic Liam Mellor as Jangles and Queen Lusious Le-Coq will be played by the excellent and filthy Jimmy Burton-IIes.

This show is suitable for people aged 16 and over, and due to high demand, early booking is recommended so get your tickets fast for this fun and filthy one-night only show!

Ever wanted to meet someone from the past but you can’t because they’re dead?

Brace yourselves for a meeting with a bygone civilisation as the Tudors jump onto the Tamworth Assembly Rooms stage on Sunday, April 24 for a fantastic comedy show, Horrible Histories – TERRIBLE TUDORS.

History and comedy fanatics will get the opportunity to travel back through time and see the horrible Henries and the end of evil Elizabeth, listen to the tales and the lies about the torturing Tudors, find out what happened to King Henry’s headless wives and his punch up with the Pope, meet Bloody Mary, see Ed fall dead in his bed and survive the Spanish Armada as they launch their attack!

Grab your popcorn, snacks and dive into life centuries ago by reserving your place for either the 1.30pm or 4pm showing.

Adult tickets cost £15.50 while children and concessions cost £13.50. Furthermore, the Claymore Lounge will be serving delicious hot and cold food from 11am until 6pm.

Tamworth Assembly Rooms’ calendar of comedy continues into the autumn months with Dom Joly's Holiday Snaps - Travel & Comedy in the Danger Zone appearing live in person on Friday, September 16.

His pre-covid tour in Tamworth sold out the Assembly Rooms, and he’s bringing his holiday snaps back to the market town once again to talk about his exploits as a serial globetrotter and seeker of dangerous travel spots. From North Korea though the Congo and Syria to Chernobyl, he's visited some of the most unusual places on the planet.

There will be opportunities for fans to meet the best-selling author and receive signed copies of his latest book, The Hezbollah Hiking Club.

If you’re into comedy and listening to stories of people’s wild and dangerous experiences, this is the ideal show for you! Get your ticket for £22. As with the other shows, doors open at 6.30pm and the event begins at 7.30pm.

And for the first time ever, a Comedy and Curry Night is coming to Tamworth Assembly Rooms. The event is set to place on Friday, May 27 with tickets going on sale on Thursday, February 10. The comedy line-up will be announced soon but a cash bar will be available as well as some incredible Indian food such as curry, dips, na’an, papadums and more.
